Writing and Book Selling Update

The eBook give-a-way 2 weeks ago went pretty well. I am still waiting and hoping for the time when I will have enough followers to give away hundreds instead of dozens of books, but that time will come - hopefully.

Spring Time Garden Time

With the nice weather, it is time to get out in the garden

Writing

I am hard at work on the third book in my Blade Holmes western mystery series. The weather has turned spring-like and we have enjoyed some outside time, seems that spring always rejuvenates my writing juices, and that's a good thing.

I have a new Facebook Author Page up and running - check it out here..

Get out and enjoy the weather, and read a good book this week.

My New Book is Out

It has been nearly a month since I posted here that my new book was finished. Now it is published.

On Turning 70 – My newest book and my shortest one is out. It is a story of reflection on turning 70 years of age. The book is not only reflective but full of humor and nostalgia. If you are getting, as we used to hear, “up there in years,” give it a try, it’s a quick hour or hour and a half read. This one, like all of my books, is available in soft cover or as an eBook. Here is the link to the $1.99 eBook.

This one is quite a bit of an, off the rails, book for me. Hope it does well.

More information to come.

Christmas Time

As happens each year at this time I have fallen behind. But, we enjoy this time of year even if it normally means a few excess pounds for me. Can't wait to see if I can get some momentum going in 2018, if it all goes great, I might get out three books. Crossing fingers.

Merry Christmas and Happy 2018

Book Seven Almost For Sale

This morning I got the proof copies of the newest of my kid’s novels, my seventh book overall. This one is book three in the series and is titled, Yikes – My Neighbor’s A Vampire.

The book looked good, and formatting was spot on. My wife, as always is my first reader when the proof copies come. Others will also read, one maybe two people, but my wife reads the stories first. She is a terrific first reader as we have been married long enough that she will tell me the truth about what doesn’t work, and what she does not like.

The problem – she found something she didn’t like. Each chapter has a picture on the first page, Jan didn’t like where I put some of them. In my first two books the pictures told a bit of the story to follow, but in this one, I put a few after the story on the heading for the next chapter. I thought it was clever and creative, she didn’t think so, now looking at it, she’s right. Darn it!

Looks like I will be spending some time moving pictures around, along with the usual fixing of things my readers find. Oh well, that’s what readers are for.

Work – work – work, a writer’s job is seldom never done.

Western Short Stories - Looks Like Readers Are Loving Them

I cannot say how terrific it feels to see my book of Christmas short stories is still selling. Although the stories are set around Christmas, they are stories for any time of the year. The short tales are more of love, hope, relationships and most of all, the west.

The book did well before Christmas and is still going strong, selling a few copies, now, nearly every day. I often get notes on blog posts or by email about my books, and occasionally by mail. Recently I received a most heartwarming note about this book. It was so appreciated, as all of us that write hope that we are making a difference in our readers day, if nothing else, but to bring a bit more pleasure and happiness into someone’s life.

Commitment - A Western Mystery

Did you make a resolution to read more in 2017 – I hope so, no better way to escape.

For a good old west, uplifting mystery, give this one a try.  Super way to start the year.

Commitment - Blade Holmes had it all. He was a living legend and still a young man. But he couldn't commit, not to a job a place to call home or to the love of his life. And now someone wanted him dead. Blade Holmes is at his best from Laramie City to Fort Laramie. History, adventure, mystery, this book has it all!

The Book Sales - Oh The Sales

Thought I Would Walk Up On Top Of A Mountain To Update Things
Like every writer I know, we are ecstatic when sales take off and upset when they grow stagnant. However, that is the nature of selling books, a few good days, and some, well, I will only say, on days when I sell no books at all I wish I would not have checked the stats.

My latest two books, Interview with a Gunfighter

Have stayed in the top 200 of their categories for several weeks. With three new books coming soon I have high hopes for the future. I have been told that when I reach ten books, I will see a steady uptick in sales – hope so.

Order The Books - Sell the Books

It's that time of year again. I made a rather big order of my books for distribution, this summer. I peddle these to local and area booksellers and take them with me on speaking engagements.
We Got a Few Drops of Rain With a Very Nice Sunset Today

I like having the ability to sell books out of the trunk or a big box. Great chance to talk with readers. I sign all of these books, and my nonfiction books have a custom bookmark with them as well. I am looking at designing another bookmark for my westerns. Right now I just enclose a nice business card with web and blog sites, and a where to, for purchasing digital books.

I Ordered Copies of All But My Two Young Adult Books
Next Month for Those, as I have a Few Left From Last Purchase.

All projects going very well right now looks like I will, at last, get my new book out - timeline now by the end of the month. After that, I have another historical fiction and a novella, a western that should follow relatively quickly. By then the snow will be in the air, and it will be time to get back to work on my nonfiction.

That's about it for now - keep reading and keep writing.

You Can Find Me Everywhere

I posted on my writing site last week that, “Lately I have been a bit dismayed at my book sale totals.”   Then the next week I sell more books than I have all month – go figure. Difficult to tell when a book might sell. I am not very good at self-promoting even if this site was built for that.
Here I Am - Not Working, Again. Paddle Boat in Branson Last Fall

With that in mind here are the links to my books, all are available in both softcover and as eBooks. Click a link and take a look, read the free preview and if you have kindle unlimited pick up any of my books for FREE. What a deal.

Speaking of promotion I can be found in many places, take a look at my twitter site, blogs, or on Google +

Working Away - Even If I Am Too Slow

Seems to be a slow time for both my writing and publishing. Seems to me there was some old saying that went something like this, The hurrieder I go the behinder I get -  or something similar. That is the way I am feeling right now. I had a book scheduled for release the last day of February and it still is sleeping ZZZZZZZZZZ on my computer. I am getting closer, now hoping for an end of May, fingers crossed, release.
Sometimes Old Looks Pretty Good

Meanwhile, keep on  reading, keep on writing and for me, keep on editing.

Since hurrieder and behinder are not real words, I am sure spelling will not matter. Had no idea how to spell either. I think that old saying was on a napkin holder when I was growing up.
